A Letter To All My Friends, Contributors, Readers

Why This Blog:

My profile page explains it all. 

"This blog is written to (a) relive my missing music years, (b) keep interested seniors posted about our local music scene, (c) encourage music stories from them and (d) keep our younger generation, especially my *3J's, aware of our pop music heritage. 

Although I have lived the age and participated in the music I am neither a music guru nor historian. No showing off past glories."

Today is November 22nd and this blog will be into its eighth year. My eldest grandson First Jay is nine and I remember he was two years young when I first thought about writing a blog. And it all started at Vivo City.

That was when I went on stage to offer a non-professional voice backing to the Silver Strings on 8th November 2008 and First Jay was there with my folks. Although he was still so young, I felt he was enthralled by the event, definitely by the loud guitar noise.

Was Singapore Ever On 'The Dean Martin Show'?

Hey pallies, likes ilovedinomartin is pleased as a bowl of spiked Dino-punch to be able to shares with all youse Dino-philes our great great Singaporian Andy's powerful Dino-patter from his majestically marvelous musical blog, "Singapore 60s: Andy's Pop Music Influence." Andy has been hangin' 'round ilovedinomartin for a long time and is truly truly one of the most devoted Dino-holics that ilovedinomartin is privileged to tag pallie.

As you will read below, Andy details how our most beloved Dino, at the pinacle of his tremedous television career "was invited to come to Singapore in the middle of 1980 to shoot a film for his series. He was invited to sell our little island by the local tourist promotion board who had noticed its immense popularity." As Andy notes, the production was to be a "special Christmas extravaganza." Sad to say, our great man ended up havin' to say no to this great opportunity.

Andy shares many many cool Dino-details in his Dino-scribin's and likes the coolest of the coolest note is that "his show was so popular it ran twice a week over RTS (Radio Television Singapore)." It just goes to show the passion people have. It will be an exception in our country if Singapore 60s music has followers like Dino Martin Peters who takes time and trouble to write, almost every other day, about Dean Martin. Queen's English, Standard English or even in Singlish, I wish more enthusiasts would write and blog about Singapore music from the 50s.

Hey pallie, likes thanks so much for all the appreciato you have shown for my work for Dino here at ilovedinomartin. I get idears for many many of the Dinoposts through my subscription to what is called google alerts... I have 'em for the taggs Dino Martin, Dean Martin, and ilovedinomartin and thus I get most of all the web postin's for our Dino... and I picks the best from 'em to share here at the Dinoblog.

The Dinopatter started early in my web work for our Dino. First came the Dinoisms when our Dino guided me to the Dinonotion that I coulda add Dino to almost every word to express my passion for our Dino.... even created 'bout '90 Dinodefinitions at a pad tagged Urban Dictionary... go to http://www.urbandictionary.com/author.php?author=kentsmokerguy&page=4to checks 'em out.

The rest of the Dinopatter came as I thought 'bout the way our Dino speaks... likes droppin' the 'g' on 'ing' works... and of course callin' everyone pallie... etc. Certainly you coulda develop your own sort of patter and Singlish woulda be such a cool way to start... let's me know when you start so likes I can checks it out.
