I didn't know the song had such a long history and been sung by many top singers and players. It was about 20 years ago when I first listened to the song performed by The Dallas Boys at Cliff Richard' Oh Boy Show held at Wembley and loved it very much. Your blog made me a lot of trip to many other singers, some of them were played in 1930s. It was a wonderful and enjoyable trip. Thank you, Andy. For singing me.

It's a great song and used by UOB Bank for its recent advertisement on TV. Been for many months now. I really love it, a memorable song indeed. Sinatra sang it too with other pop singers from those years.
Did the FRANK SINATRA version in BANGKOK with a big band in 1969.

Yes indeed!! Sung by Judy Garland in 1943. I have been performing it quite often for my seniors. Good tempo for those feeling down.
Amazing how the seniors react to the bet. I often add the sound of gypsy violins from my keyboards and I just sing and let myself go.

Old TIN PAN ALLEY song sung by numerous singers. A medium swing tempo tune well suited for big band arrangements, but till suitable for a small group backing. Guess Aretha is one of them.
Played this quite often during my early professional years at gigs with vocalists and cabaret floor shows, etc.
This song would be in the repertoire of STANDARDS for professional musicians in the 40s to 60s. Probably less so for pop/rock musicians. But it depends from what country you are in. Rock n Rollers from the US, UK and Australia would have grown up with these songs from an earlier era.
These early swing era songs are part of the roots for the evolution of today's pop music That is the reason as examples, LINDA RONSTADT could record an album of STANDARDS with NELSON RIDDLE, ROD STEWART as well and currently today BILLIE EILISH.

Stumbled across this version from this amazing box-set Brother Andy. Wore my headphones and listened to it. It’s one of those songs that gives you goosebumps. Such a beautiful smooth voice, such a singer and one of the brightest movie stars of the Hollywood’s Golden Era to even nail this somewhat different but classy melody. An amazing artist indeed who left us too soon..

Fred Ching hi!!! Wow you've got the original! Fred, you're a wonderment. Your pop stars and hit songs stretch from the 40s onwards to present day and this song has Garland the original artiste. Then came the Trammps, Sinatra and others...
