We have a gentleman who is Vancouver's Elvis Presley, but he was a Singapore citizen once. He needs no introduction actually because he's appeared on this blog for many years now.
Happy Tay, yes! That's his name.
He is a well-known Elvis Tribute Artiste [ETA] and is always being invited to perform in shows, at dinners and dances in friendly city Vancouver. But this time around he's joined by another former Singaporean who had migrated to Perth, Australia.
That's Cedric Collars! He’s an accomplished pianist who is still very active Down-Under. He's also known as Perry Como.
I received some photographs recently. So here we have two former Singaporeans who met in Canada to enjoy a Hawaiian theme get-together. What a world we live in; jetting from one space to another in quick time.
Happy Tay with Cedric Collars [Australia's Perry Como], who came all the way from Perth to enjoy the evening. "That's what friends are for..."
Guest Cedric Collars, [in white] watching from the stage.
Happy, celebrated Canada Day on 1st July, 2026.
And the big event that evening was for a fundraising ALOHA 2026 HAWAIIAN DINNER AND DANCE. Here's Happy himself to announce the event.
"The grand entrance that evening was Elvis with his Hawaiian Dancers, singing and dancing to the excitement of the audience. Yes, the Perry Como of Perth, Australia was there too. Cedric Collars sang and was very well received. The turn-out was good with about 200 guests attending."
Happy in action singing Elvis hits, and very well too. He has a fantastically powerful voice and always brings loud applause.
"A solo dance provided by a pretty lady.
Hawaiian Shake and a Hula Baby..."
On the floor now with his group of ladies is Happy.
"Night and you, In Blue Hawaii..."
A Happy fan screamed as she left excitedly after meeting 'Elvis' and getting a handshake from him after he sang, “The Wonders of You.”
Cedric, musician, singer and Perry Como Tribute Artiste,
flies too because he is a licensed pilot.
Happy Tay [Vancouver's Elvis]
with an ardent fan who is one of the members of the Knights of Columbus too and a Captain with the Canadian Armed Forces and a fan of Elvis.
It's March 2025 and there's been delays in posting
photographs on this blog. Here are a few taken
near the end months of 2024.
No showing off; just camaraderie!
"Old friends, old friends
Sat on their park bench like bookends
A newspaper blown through the grass
Falls on the round toes
Of the high shoes of the old friends..."

I saw this sign in another country. Can't remember where.
Could be Thailand or Japan. Not a bad idea but I don't drink.
Singapore Recording artiste Tony Goh
With the very talented recording artiste Tony Goh who owns
a huge recording studio himself near the business district
around Shenton Way. Tony was from the pop 70s group,
TONY, TERRY and SPENCER. The vinyl costs some today.
Jean Granger/France and the Late Alfred Wong
With Jean [John] Granger from France and the late
Alfred Wong who passed away in late 2024. We
were at a music pub in the Novena area. Alfred used
to provide free jam sessions at his apartment
with coffee, milk and a huge spread.

"Buddy Andy Young. Missing our 60’s days and catching up with our Ole friends fills our hearts with bittersweet nostalgia as our memories linger on as You have always shared with keeping closeness even though we are a distance away. Cheers."

"Andy Young is probably the only one in Singapore that is keeping Music Memorabilia in Singapore alive and fluttering, as many of our generation have reached an age who treasure precious memories of our past. Kudos to him. His site will be worth a lot in time to come. Please convey my good wishes to Andy. When you next come back to Singapore, we could get him together."

"Andy Young is probably the only one Singapore that is keeping Music Memorabilia in Singapore alive and fluttering as many of our generation have reached an age who treasure precious memories of our past. Kudos to him. His site will be worth a lot in time to come - millions, considering the many wealthy ones that Singapore has now nurtured. Please convey my good wish to Andy. When you next come back to Singapore, we could get him together."
Well Andy, congrats again on your blog and this comment is from my friend Eng Leong (a top local lawyer and accomplished guitarist during his younger days) saying all that is needed to be said. I totally concur with him too. Have a great week my friend and hopefully, we get to meet again in Singapore! [Happy Tay, Vancouver, BC, Canada.]
