Andy 60s Music: People Got To Be Free. Let Us Make Peace. Let Us Forgive.

I DON'T KNOW WHO WROTE THIS PIECE, BUT IT'S WORTH READING.

Thanks to this sensible and peace-loving person.

"Every minute… someone leaves this world.
Not only the old.
Not only the sick.
Not only the weak.
Someone. Somewhere.
Age has nothing to do with it.
Life does not always send a warning.
The truth is… we are all standing in a line.
A line we did not choose.
A line we cannot see the end of.
And the strange thing is… most of us don't even realize we are in it.

We wake up every morning thinking we have time.
Time to hate.
Time to fight.
Time to compete.
Time to prove we are better than someone else.
But the line is moving.
Quietly.
Patiently.
Relentlessly.
And every day… someone steps out of it.
We never know how many people are ahead of us.
We never know when our name will be called.
We cannot move to the back of the line.
We cannot step out of it.
We cannot pause it.
And no amount of money, power, fame, or connections can halt its progress.

So, while we are still standing here… while our turn has not yet come…
Let us make peace.
Let us forgive.
Let us stop carrying the heavy bags of anger and hatred.
Let us do good.
Not tomorrow.
Not when it is convenient.
But now.
Let us tell the truth, even when lies seem easier.
Let us be honest, even when honesty comes at a cost.
Let us show kindness to people who may never be able to repay us.
Because one day — whether we like it or not — we will leave this world.
That is the one appointment no human being can cancel.

So, what is the point of holding a grudge against someone who could leave tomorrow… or you could leave before them?
What is the point of destroying someone's life, sending a brother to prison, or plotting revenge… when neither of you truly controls tomorrow?
Why boast about money… when money has never stopped death?
Why boast about status… when titles disappear the moment life leaves the body?
Why deceive yourself with power and connections… when countless powerful people stood in this same line before you and still had to leave?
Why fight your own brother over land… when the earth itself will one day cover both of you?

'People Got To Be Free': The Rascals: Stereo [Summer] 1968. YouTube Video by: Smurfstools Oldies Music Time Machine.

Look around the world.
People fighting.
Families breaking.
Communities divided.
All for things that cannot follow us beyond the grave.
Evil often grows from ignorance.
Pride is the costume of foolishness.
Selfishness is the poverty of the soul.
And betrayal… betrayal is the language of weakness.
But kindness… kindness is strength.
Compassion is wisdom.
And humanity is the greatest legacy a person can leave behind.
At the end of life, nobody asks how much money you had in your bank account.
They ask how many lives you touched.
They remember whether your presence brought peace… or pain.
Whether you lifted others up… or pushed them down.
Whether you built bridges… or burned them.

So while we are still alive…
While our hearts are still beating…
While our feet are still moving in this mysterious line called life…
Let us do good.
Let us love more.
Let us forgive faster.
Let us help those who cannot help themselves.
Let us use the little time we have… not only to build our lives…
But to uplift humanity.
Because when our turn finally comes…
And we step out of this line…
The only thing that will remain…
Is the good we did for others?
May the Lord guide our hearts to what is right, forgive our shortcomings, fill our lives with sincere goodness, and grant us a beautiful ending when our time comes."

This message is really touchy, and I know that you will feel it as well.

It's a food for thought for the wise.
Good day!

Remember Good Friday 29th March 2024. Judy Chong Lee's: The B.A.R.T.E.R. For My Life

'Whispering Hope' sung by Jim Reeves

Thanks to Jimmy Lee [ETA] and his wife Judy for this, the third religious poem she wrote. An appropriate time truly as Good Friday is approaching...

The B.A.R.T.E.R. For My Life

I Believe that this universe is not random

That there is a creator of heaven and earth

The God who created man with free will and freedom

And had their names written in His book of life at birth.

I Acknowledge this world is full of sin and hell-bent

Injustice and evil will tempt all to pay the price

I'm amazed God so loved the world He sent

His son to save all with his supreme sacrifice.

I Receive Jesus who died at the cross for my sin

So I will not perish but have everlasting life

It's simple as that, I can't earn it.. can't win

It's by grace through faith in Christ, not strife.

From wretched sinner I'm released to Transform

My soul tie to Hades Jesus has unknotted

He stands with me to face hardships in any storm

My name from the book of life will never be blotted.

I have life in the Spirit with good news to Evangelise

To tell everyone to think and consider eventually

To say there is no hell is one of the biggest lies

For surely as you're born you'd die to go to your destiny.

Maybe it's sooner than we think the end of time coming

Look around this wretched world and corrupted society

The imminent Rapture caught up with Jesus is my longing

To live in heaven with my creator for all of eternity.

There you have it above put in a  nutshell

This is the B.A.R.T.E.R. of life for you and me

Not just in body but for your soul to be well

I pray you will know The Truth that will set you free.

As We Grow Older: By Judy Chong-Lee

Many thanks to Judy, whose deep sense of thought, sincerity and love surface in this poem... I am touched by her sensitivity.

As We Grow Older

[Judy Chong-Lee]

As we grow older and nearer the end of our journey on earth

We must consider the possibility of an existence after death

What waits for us on the other side, do we have another birth

Just as we wake up from sleep will we be revived with new breath.

If there is not a place to go where we must give an account totally

Of our thoughts and deeds, everything committed in our life

Why do humans have conscience and a code for morality

To refrain from evil, injustice, violence and all kinds of strife.

Man tries to find a way to live justifying his every end

It's easy to self deceive and cross that blur thin line

The poor and weak we cannot see or we just pretend

Greed and corruption make every good man turn blind.

Who can be mighty enough to take charge of this entire universe

Other than the one who created it from alpha to omega and eternity

Why deny that God exists, that He designed and made us

And His son died on the cross to redeem our divine destiny.

After all that is said and done get ready and prepare

Forget our pride and humble ourselves to the power above

No one will escape judgement if a holy God is to be fair

Lay ourselves at the mercy of Father God who is Love.

All it takes is our acceptance of a free salvation

We can't do enough good to be sinless and not condemned

At the cross of Calvary sin's atonement had completion

The only sacrifice required by God was Jesus the Lamb.

We only need to believe in Jesus alone, and NOT  Jesus plus..

Heaven awaits all who acknowledge Him, only He can save

It's our faith in Christ, by God's grace, need no other fuss

We are heading for heaven not fearing death and the grave.

As forgiven people, born again into the family of God

Our sinful past obliterated the devil cannot take us to hell

Sin no longer our master, freed by our Saviour and Lord

We have faith hope and love, and such good news to tell.

God bless us!

I think of it everyday. Comment anyone?

Letter From Springtime England Amid Covid: Allan Thompson

Amidst the hurly-burly of the Covid-19 disaster, a good friend from the green fields and valleys of ole England writes to me after some years of solitude. No, that's not true. He's been writing to me very often, so I asked if I could post one of his private mails on the blog. He agreed; Allan Thompson always does. So here goes, a short but refreshing description to brief us Singaporeans about the situation in suburban England.

Dear Andy,

Glad to hear you are well and coping with the restrictions. We are having deliveries of vegetables and food generally. We both exercise at home a couple of times a day and I go for a long brisk walk every second day around the village which is quite spread out so it is easy to keep clear of any cyclists, joggers and other walkers.

It is good to hear the Spring birds singing while most people are closeted and not making human noise with traffic and machinery and loud music. We are permitted half an hour outside for exercise each day and are permitted unlimited fresh air in our gardens.

We have a small garden and make full use of it with vegetables, flowers and herbs. The blossoms on the flowering currant bush attract all varieties of bees which make a soothing buzzing sound like an insect orchestra, and the birds sing loudly each morning to awaken us.

It is pleasant when the sun shines but there is still a keen edge to the breeze which is forecast to change direction at the weekend and bring higher temperatures.

I will be going for an extra walk in an hour's time and hope to tell you more about Springtime in England.

Afterwards:

I have just returned from my brisk walk around the village and I feel invigorated from the exercise. Not too many people around: three people jogging separately, a pair of cyclists, a lady riding a Clydesdale-cross work horse, two almost-empty buses, one or two essential delivery vans, and a few very sensible pedestrians keeping their distance.

On the negative side: an elderly man balanced on top of a tall, rickety wooden step-ladder, hosing down the plastic corrugated roof of his car-port. If he falls and injures himself, that will mean an ambulance and possibly hospital treatment when the National Health Service is working at full stretch already.

There are too many idiots thinking they can flout the Government's advice, including the far-too-many private cars on the main roads making non-essential journeys.

On a brighter note, it was lovely to see the cherry trees in full bloom and daffodils thrusting their golden heads towards the sun, while the wild birds sing their cheerful songs in the trees and hedgerows. Many people, including us, are taking advantage of the fine weather to plant vegetables, prune shrubs, and do some weeding.

Ours is a fairly small garden but it is enclosed at the back so it is very private and is protected from late frosts by high wooden fences and bushes. We also have a small polythene greenhouse where Mary grows vegetables from seed and later in the Summer it is full of tall, bushy tomato plants which usually give us a good crop.

Well, I must go out and prune some more hydrangea branches.

Keep well, old friend.

Regards,
Allan Thompson.
'Out of Town' by Max Bygraves: Allan Thompson's song that uplifts him.

Spring songs - hmm.

There is an instrumental called "Spring Is Near" by The Outlaws which came out on a 1961 single on HMV. (NOT the later country supergroup of that name, but the British guitar group produced by Joe Meek).

"Spring! Spring! Spring!" from the film, "7 Brides For 7 Brothers".

I've also cheated by Googling songs about Spring:

"Younger Than Springtime" (various artists have done this);
"Spring Fever" (Elvis Presley);
"Spring Rain" (Pat Boone);
"Suddenly It's Spring" (Frank Sinatra);
"Spring" (Serendipity Singers).
"Out Of Town" (by Max Bygraves remains, oddly enough, one of my favourite uplifting songs.)
Elvis Presley sings 'Spring Fever' from movie, 'Girls, Girls, Girls' where springtime is adequately and pleasantly dramatised.
