Charlie Robert Watts, famed 'Rolling Stones' drummer had passed away aged 80. He had been with the group since its inception. According to the media he was a private person and usually very quiet, avoided the limelight before and after performances.

Regretfully, ace-drummer CHARLIE WATTS has also passed away.
This happened just a day after DON EVERLY's death.
RIP to both.
May they rock the heavens with the same music they rocked the earth with.
One of the biggest milestones in Singapore pop music history was the arrival of the Rolling Stones in the 1960s when they performed at the now very quiet Singapore Badminton Hall at Guillemard Road near the east.
It was Chap Goh Mei and when Singapore, with a predominantly Chinese populace, was celebrating the culmination of Chinese New Year festivities. An appropriate evening indeed when the Stones with drummer Charlie Watts stepped on stage to perform their hits.

The STONES were late n with police escort ushered them backstage n out of bounds.
After d show, police also escorted them back straight to their hotel and we had no chance to talk to them.
Rolling Stones came to perform at MBS in 2000s.
I recall their sold-out performance.
ROLLING STONES were brought in and organised by Stars Associates and the late Kingsley Morando was in charge. Our own Singapore Elvis, Wilson David was the entertainment manager working for the company.

Was Charlie Watts in Singapore in the early 60s.
I’m so grateful I got to see him, as it was the last tour Charlie Watts ever performed in Sands Grand Ballroom at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. This makes me so sad, but also extremely happy that I got to see him live, one last time with the band and they are amazing.
It was the best concert I have ever been to in my life and I got to share it with my best friends! The venue was outstanding. It made the night even more magical.

The Rolling Stones were one of the top rock bands from 1960s producing hits after hits. They were always neck-to-neck with The Beatles in the British Top 20 chart, which I always tuned in to BBC radio during my teen in the 1960s/1970s. Stones' drummer Charlie Watts like Beatles' Ringo, was always at the back stage playing his drums. Nevertheless, Charlie contributed much to the Stones' success internationally. One of the many Stones' songs I like best is Paint It Black bcos you can hear the continuing and strong drum beat performed by Charlie from start till the end of the song. Sadly, Charlie has left us too soon ! RIP.

I went to their concert twice, once at Badminton Hall.. On that day it was Chap Goh meh, can't hear a thing, crackers outside, screaming girls inside.
Next was the Indoor Stadium, they played for 3hours and 45 minutes, so much energy.
Next to the Fab four Rolling Stones is the pop group that we like in those teenage years. Apart from Satisfaction, I really like their song Ruby Tuesday.

PAUL, listening to your story is like watching them live that night, noise and all.
