Meeting a bespectacled Chinese Santa in front of a well-known Chinese painting. Do you know this place? It's not too cold actually but for me it was.
The late Mustafa Al-Johari, a respected singer musician I met at a concert. He became a friend but lived in New Zealand. Mustafa passed away not too long ago. Goodbye my friend. May you Rest In Peace. Condolences to his Family.
Ahh! The wandering singing ambassador Jimmy Yap, with former 'Dukes' drummer Clarence Perera and his friend for a chat before Christmas 2025.
It was orchids galore with the expert himself, Mr. Johnny Yeo, at the Botanical Gardens. Johnny, good friend and a serious orchid enthusiast was on fun duty. Besides being an orchid lover, he also plays the Chinese erhu, the ukulele and is a cycling enthusiast.
While visiting the National Library lately, meeting four buskers who were off duty. They had a great time listening to the pianist. But no singing, says the security guard on duty. A visitor, took pictures.
On 15th May 2025 Amanda, guitarist, and Dorothy, leader of a group of young ladies from Yuying Secondary School Guitar Emsemble Alumni, staged a memorable performance at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital Atrium. A huge crowd awaited.
Mr Bob Salleh and Mr.Ali were in charge of the acoustics that day. And what a fine job they did. Not an easy task with the public, patients and a big audience milling around them to watch what they do. I became friends with them too. Thanks Bob and Ali.
And here's the Concordia Guitar Ensemble about to go into their guitar play and rendering songs for the Hospital crowd and passers-by. The group was founded in 2019. Thank you, ladies. You all made my day. These 3 pictures and other ones will be posted as a full article soon. So watch out for it.

The Music Section at the main library, Middle Road. It's only one part of a huge collection of books about songs and their singers. There's Clapton, Parton and Springsteen. With Beatles book of their lyrics. Notice others? Books are my great friends too!
An interesting moment, meeting Mr. Chee Soon Juan at a Supermarket. He was rather busy as usual but this time shopping for groceries. No chat but he was kind enough to spare me time for the picture.
Pianist Sammin Ang is a good friend and a versatile musician; one who plays quite a number of instruments. His wife, Esther is a singer who can croon in English and Chinese. They appear at many concerts and entertainment venues.
This friend sends me coffee greetings each morning. A well-known Elvis Tribute Artiste, Jimmy PresLee owns many Elvis-oriented pantsuits when he appears on stage. Uh-huh-hah!
And the good friend Jimmy [top left] who's everywhere gave Rediffusion DJ Larry Lai [with cap] and me a big birthday treat on November 25th. Thank you so much, Jimmy. It was extremely delicious food of local delights, including Larry's kong bah pow. He swallowed three huge ones. We had two birthday cakes and as usual Larry got the bigger piece. 🤣 And here's where I met many new friends.
Mr. Christopher Nathan, that's the man! Check him out and help him out. He's always at the Toa Payoh Hub near the NTUC that is opposite the Value Dollar Store. He sings well and does songs by Freddy Mercury. Hope to meet you again my friend.

While Staying In the Kampong, Yes Our Family Had Dogs.
There Was One At the Next House Used As A Store Room. This Dog Was Very Friendly With Everyone. It Was Not Suitable As A Guard Dog But He Was There Because Of His Size, To Act As A Deterrent, Hoping To Fool Any Intruder.
There Was Another When I Was A Seaman On Board A Ship. While in Hong Kong, With Boats Loading And Unloading Cargoes Alongside Our Vessel We Found A Dog On Board Our Ship The Next Morning. Someone Had Abandoned What Resembled A Chow Chow, And Disappeared.
While On Board The Ship, Yes Our Crew Nursed A Dog.
The Doggie Was In Bad Shape. We, the Crew, Took Care And Nursed Him Back To Health. So The Doggie Sailed With Us From Hong Kong To Singapore, The Straits of Malacca, Indian Ocean, On To East Africa, i.e. in Kenya And Tanzania, Eden And Up To the Red Sea, Then Back To Singapore.
The Background Beach Scene, Reminded Me Of The Six Crew Members From Our Anchor Ship When We Paddled Our Dinghy To Shore, Including One Guy With Doggie Swimming Alongside. We Had Fun.
While On The Way Home, Yes Our Family Adopted The Dog.
Before Our Trip Back To Shanghai, I Took It Back Home, Because No One On Board Wanted To Take Responsibility. I Had To Take It Home First Because If It Bit A Chinese Worker While In Shanghai Or Anywhere Else, We Would All Be In Trouble. But Thanks To The Doggie It Took A Liking And Stayed Close To My Father. So The Chow Chow, Born In Hong Kong 😊, Became My Father's Protector, While I Continued On My Journey Across The Seas...
I Remember When Dad Was In Bed, Doggie Would Be At Dad's Feet And When Mum Was Around It Would Growl To Protect Dad. A Very Protective And Loyal Pet It Became...
I Started Working On Board Ship Doing On The Job Training With Zero Knowledge. Somehow, For Those Old Seafarers, That Was Good, Because I Didn't Have To Carry Some Of Those Useless Excess Baggage So It Was Easier To Teach Me.
I Worked My Way From OJT, To Sailor; Quarter Master And Boatswain, All the Time Having Tremendous Respect For Those Old Seafarers. They Had the Experience And Knowledge And I, The Youthfulness To Present Their Ideas Into A Safe Working Environment. The Camaraderie Worked Very Well. All's Well That Ends Well.

There you go. Nice doggie who treats me like a stranger. Actually, I am! Visiting him only twice a week but hardly nowadays. So, when I did, he sniffed me around then turned his head when we took a picture.
Pop Songs With the Word Dog: 流行歌曲与词狗 My elder grandson was born in 2006 and will be twelve years young this year of the dog. Like him, most of us love dogs and appreciate this year's Chinese Almanac bow-wow and woof-woof zodiacsign. The Rooster has already left us after saying goodbye to the dog; so here's a tribute to man's best friend with a list below of songs about dogs and canine-related themes. There are hundreds of these songs but here's a short list of 33 which are from the 60's to the 80's. The exceptions include a tune from a classic Walt Disney cartoon called Lady and The Tramp (1955) and the other from a movie called, Rugrats in Paris (2000) with a song by Baha Men. Both are hilarious. I just could not leave these two songs out from our Doggie List.
Dog saying goodbye to Rooster during a solemn and respectful day at the farm. From Little Red Rooster which I used last year to Walking The Dog this time around, The Rolling Stones has never failed to please as both songs are sung by them. I could not leave out the latter.
