In the past NDP, esp in 1980s/1990s periods, national day songs evoked a sense of patriotism and encouraged group singing, esp with school children. Everyone then was exciting, cheered and clapped and even danced, and whole atmosphere made one felt a sense of belonging to SG. Since then the NDP songs, including 2021's are very tame, and they are just another ballad-type of songs. Nevertheless, these recent NDP songs, I think, suits mainly adults because of their meaningful lyrics. The above is just my personal opinions.

I think the lyrics can be meaningful; it just depends how one interprets them.

Very sweet, nice song...but I do not detect any spirit of patriotism. My all time favourite is WE ARE SINGAPORE!

[I need to add though, after consultation with those involved, that the patriotism doesn't need to be in the song, as each song for each year may focus on different aspects of SG's national spirit. We should look on the positive side of each composition; this time around it's penned by a young lady. So I would give it all respect. CHEERS.]

Personally I prefer old NDP songs like "Stand Up For Singapore" I'd be happy if "Singapore Pie" was regarded as NDP song.
