Elvis may have left the building but he has left us a wonderful collection of songs that remind us of who he was and how he has touched us in many ways and through the years. Let us sing and remind ourselves that we have lived our lives with music that will outlive us.

While dropping my daughter off at her office today, I put on an Elvis Presley CD to keep the faith alive of the 50s and 60s sound and the first song at random was “Don’t Be Cruel”. When the song was playing, it brought back one significant part of my younger days of yesteryears when my family were living in Hindhede Drive at Upper Bukit Timah Road.

Reminds me of my dad self assembled turntable, vacuum tube amplifier and receiver and he ran self assembled speakers all over the house.. and old blankets insulated the inside of the speaker boxes.. oh gosh, he will go about spinning Elvis Presley records non-stop especially this song! So glad I grew up in this era and living in the kampung. Greatest music of all time.

Blessings to all.
Cheers 😊🙏❤️..

Fred Ching your experience with sound and Elvis is incomparable to anyone I know; truly a lucky son to have a father who uses a vacuum amp. And the insulated speakers, playing DON'T BE CRUEL. That's the Ultimate Elvis. Thanks Fred.

Before I knew it, I was singing Elvis' Hound Dog last night, The reason was clear, I happened to watch "Elvis" the story about Tom Parker and Presley on TV and easily got caught up in it.

Andy Young
Hiroshi Deguchi, again thank you. I hope you are much better now, what with your loss and the cold weather in Japan. But HOUND DOG must have warmed you. Yes, saw ELVIS too. I must say it was an invigorating movie indeed. Austin Butler was great as Elvis, wasn't he? But I thought Butler looked more like Rick Nelson. Tom Hanks too was superb. And Baz Luhrmann's production, a marvel.

Elvis’s voice and music that first wowed many young fans in the late 1950’s, has always appealed to new fans in every generation. As far as I can remember, Elvis had a unique voice and a awesome stage presence like no one else before.
Some Of My Favourite Elvis Songs of All Time are: The Wonder Of You, Can’t Help Falling In Love, Jailhouse Rock, Hound Dog, Don’t Be Cruel, HeartBreak Hotel, Love Me Tender, Are You Lonesome Tonight, Return To Sender, Suspicious Minds.
I still believe that Elvis remains as one of the best-selling solo artists of all time.

Andy Young. Your awesome well done Blog helps to keep Asia’s younger generation aware of Worlds Music Heritage. 👌.

Andy Young
Alphonso Soosay hi, it's always a pleasure to have a personality like you visit this post and provide informative comments. Elvis is truly the King, with a history of hit records and successes. Thanks again Al. Appreciate you like the blog for its views and content.

"When I was a kid, I was a dreamer. I'd read comic books and become the hero of the story. I'd watch a movie and become the hero of the movie. Every dream I've ever had has come true a hundred times."
says Elvis Presley [Tupelo, January 8, 1935 – Memphis, August 16, 1977]

And what other top pop musicians say of him:

He was a unique artist, an original in an area of imitators.
(Mick Jagger)
Before Elvis, there was nothing.
(John Lennon)
I would hide behind the curtains, in front of the French window of the typical English house where I lived, pretend it was a stage and imitate Elvis. That was my environment as a ten-year-old.
(Robert Plant)
Elvis was my greatest hero. At the time, I was stupid enough to think that because he was born on the same day, it would mean something.
(David Bowie)
My first influences were the old blues and rock singers, Elvis above all. I heard them at the right age to be influenced by them. They seemed to open up a new world to me that I didn't even know existed. A strange landscape that I could only glimpse in my daily life.
(Jim Morrison)
When we were kids in Liverpool all we wanted to be was Elvis Presley.
(Paul McCartney)
It's crazy the charisma he had, I've never seen anything like it until today.
(Faith Hill)
The first time I heard Elvis' voice I knew I wasn't going to work for anyone; no one was going to be my boss... hearing him for the first time was like escaping from prison.
(Bob Dylan)
Elvis was really good. Every show I did with him, I never missed an opportunity to stand backstage and watch. We all did. He was really charismatic.
(Johnny Cash)
With Elvis it became clear to me that you could use the power of imagination to transform yourself, to transcend the origins and constraints you came from.
(Bruce Springsteen)
Elvis was a giant and he influenced everyone in our world.
(Isaac Hayes)
In Elvis there is the model of rock 'n' roll. It had everything: the gospel and the mud of the Delta, the blues. The sexual liberation. The controversies. Changing the way people see the world. In Elvis it had it all.
(Bono)
Because of Elvis I decided to become interested in music. I have always been a fan of his since I was a boy.
(Elton John)
My idol is Elvis Presley. If you come to my house you can see his portraits on every wall... He was the greatest showman who ever lived.
(Eddie Murphy)
I was not just a fan, I was his brother. Elvis was a hard worker and the Lord loved him. The last time I saw him at Graceland, we sang gospel together. I love him and hope to meet him in the afterlife.
(James Brown)
Before Elvis, the world was black and white. Then he came along... and it was all technicolor.
(Keith Richards)
I remember Elvis when he was a kid at Sun Studios. I thought he was incredibly talented... His phrasing, his approach to songs was unique... like Sinatra. I was a huge fan and, when he was alive, I thought his creativity was endless.
(B.B. King)
