"I’m so happy to see the picture of your band Velvetones, because in 1964 I have a pen friend called *Charles Tung, of Chinese dad and English mum; he and his friends formed a group called the Velvetones too and later changed to Cormorants. His friends are Wilson Ong, Sam and Sammy the drummer; the three off them are guitarists.
Then in 1978 when I was moving house I lost his photographs, address, as he had just moved too. I wonder if any of you know anything about these boys. We are now almost 80 years and as my family can to go for a holiday in Singapore, he had always liked to talk about how nice your country is and had always wanted us to go visit whenever we can.
So I hope if any of you can help me please find my friend. He has a younger brother called *Walter, a younger sister called *Linda and for a long time they lived with their parents at 110 Dorset Road Singapore 8 . I would very much appreciate your help.
The sixties had the best music and songs. We are lucky to have passed through that era. Thank you so much in advance. I pray to get some good news."

Written a year ago, this person is still looking for his long lost friend who lives in Singapore... Names and address are given. If you are familiar...
With such a detailed letter, I reckon this anonymous person has a good chance to reconnect with the long lost pen pal through the exposure of his/her letter on your blog. Best of luck!
Hi Jimmy
Yes.
It’s an old letter without any reply. Giving it a last chance. Thanks

I had a pen pal from Penang in the early 60s. We met up when my parents drove to Penang for a holiday in 1964. Last time we met a few years later, he was working in KL. Still remember his Penang address. Sent a card years ago no reply. Wonder if he is still alive. 🤣

Koh Daisy, thanks. Yes, I guess the affiliation comes naturally but then distance becomes a problem. With the computer age, it's a different game altogether.

I had pen pals from Penang, Cameron Highlands etc..in 60's , and also many friends from abroad. Lost touch with almost all as our contact addresses have changed on both ends. Sad but a reality. Only sweet memories remain as I try to recall the face of long-lost friends!❤️🙏🙏👍

I met this guy, Jonathan at Macdonalds in YMCA next to National Musium for the first time in !985 and exchanged letters until I moved from Nagasaki to Shimonoseki. I often wonder what my long lost friend is doing. He told me he became a police officer. I remember watching NDP parade showing Tokyo Square singing Within You'll Remain at his uncle(s flat. Also he introduced me Singapore's disco king early 80s at his studio. and now he must have retired.
Hiroshi Deguchi hello. Long time no hear. You should write to him again; would be nice. You have a great memory remembering details of your time with him. Thanks for keeping in touch my friend.

Thanks for the advice, Andy. Yes it'd wonderful if I could get in touch with him again. My problem is I don't know his new address after he became a motorcycle police. I remember his parents and uncle and aunt were very kind to me.
