Here's an autographed photograph of The Rolling Stones when they were very young. I must thank Jimmy Appudurai-Chua for this blog gift.  He explained:

"I met them at the Hotel Singapura in the 60s in Singapore. It was Bill Wyman who brought me in to meet all of them, as I befriended him, while he was posting some mail to his family...

The autographs included Brian Jones and Andrew Oldham.  Brian and Bill were the most friendly of the lot, although the whole band was very nice to everyone... I will never forget the day."

I am curious about the uniformed men in from of the stage. Local police maybe in the lighter coloured uniforms? And would the two European-looking men be British Military Police? I suppose a lot of British service men would have attended the show.

Thanks Brother Andy for posting!

Kudos to Jimmy for this precious gem photo! While driving home after a dinner invite this evening, I put in the Rolling Stones CD and the first song at random was “Under The Boardwalk”. When the song was playing, it brought my childhood memories..

I was only 13 and reminded me of being at the school auditorium with my classmates performing a dance item for our farewell party. I love the Rolling Stones and they have given me many fine years of music.

This 12X5 album is absolutely pure bliss and one of the first songs I fell in love with as a young kid was this classic. A throwback to a couple of memorable nights in Singapore Indoor Stadium and The Sands Grand Ballroom at MBS.

I still smile whenever I thought of this awesome gig, 14 On Fire and the crowd singing along with Mick Jagger when Rolling Stones belted out some of their hair-raising classics. That’s the Stones I knew and loved.
👍❤️🥰..

Fred Ching thanks for the memory you left on this post. Please feel free to share other music stories, if you can, on the blog.

Yes, the all-seeing-eye of the composer, "When the sun beats down and melts the tar upon the roof..." That's a blast, surely!!! And the shoes getting hot, wishing we had fireproof feet...

TO STEVE FARRAM:

Yes, huge crowd with the servicemen there too.
It was the Chinese New Year 15th Moon holiday...
Just shows the efficiency of the authorities, even then.

Stay safe Steve.
You still lecturing at D.U. ?
