Elvis Presley Fashioned 60s Jumpsuits From Jimmy Lee: Elvis Tribute Artiste Singapore

UP TO 1,600 VIEWS - 16 COMMENTS

I have never seen anyone in Singapore wearing an Elvis Presley performance costume with such revealing splendour, no, none, not one! So when Singapore's current Elvis Tribute Artiste, Jimmy Lee sent these photographs I thought they were the most beautiful jumpsuits ever made.
Whether it's in red, white or blue, just check them out. Yes, black too..

The tailor and fashion designer made them so well. Some jumpsuits that I have seen did not seem suitable for the Elvis Tribute Artistes who wore them. But most of Jimmy's costumes look fabulous and gives him that authentic Elvis look.

When I asked for details, he mentioned that the suits cost from S$1,500 to S$2,500 and would take about three months to tailor and be mailed to Singapore, since they came only from the Philippines, Thailand or the U.S.

Now that's a lot of money for a suit but not by today's standards since the prices have increased much. Jimmy said the jumpsuits were made around 2013. That's nearly 10 years ago.

It will cost a fortune to make one today. He mentioned that the tailors may not be able to make them because the studs and stones for decoration come from North America. The reaction to its pricing could probably be, "My hands are shaky and my knees are weak; I can't seem to stand on my own two feet."

I told Jimmy during the chat that his love for Elvis is mind blowing.
Jimmy explained that Elvis has a name for each attire. These names would include: Phoenix, American Eagle, Conquistador, Aloha, Blue Swirl, Burning Love, Fireworks, Blue Rainbow and Concho. Very imaginative sounding names that seem to reverberate with Nature.

There are more jumpsuits in Jimmy's wardrobe. These are only a few.
Watch out for Parts 2 and 3.

Fashion and it's upkeep costs but the image needs it's costume and the tools is the voice. Clothing maketh the man and the voice wraps it up. I say if you can afford it then flaunt it by all means 😜👍

Totally agree he is the best dressed Elvis impersonator and without his costumes how could he perform as an Elvis Tribute Artiste.

I once auditioned a so-called ETA and he tailor-made his costume with a yellow satin cloth which was soft and the collar drooped down and he looked more like a Chinese Sai Kong [Funeral Priest]. Heh, heh.

I was supposed to sell the act to a rather prestigious private club.

I admire his dedication and devotion.

Personally I prefer watching Elvis sing dressed in normal attire rather than in gaudy jumpsuits. The first time that I watched him perform dressed like that, I felt then, that he was trying too hard to reinvent himself.

Thanks to AUDIE, ANON., JC and RICHARD for comments. It isn't easy to sing, act and perform like the King so I'll give credit to anyone who does. The costumes help to achieve the ideal, ie exploiting the ultimate image of Elvis. With a voice to match, the image sets in.

And it's a package deal.

After all, he is an entertainer, one of the best, I think.

I did not know that the costumes cost so much. Good luck Jimmy. You look very smart with your outfits. I hope to see you one day.

When will we get to attend the next concert by The Silver Strings and friends since SMM has relaxed?

Thanks to CEDRIC COLLARS, GEORGE and ANONYMOUS for the mail. Yes, Cedric, flaunt it by all means; I think JIMMY PRESLEE has the means.

Yes, GEORGE, costumes are very expensive are they? Hope you will see JIMMY perform one day soon.

To ANONYMOUS: I am not sure when the Silver Strings will appear again. I shall relay this message to the people in charge since I only sing 2 songs everytime. Cheers and thank you for writing in.

Hopefully, Elvis will come back to the building? But he won't we know.

YES, handsome Jimmy can sing well.

I'm sure you would enjoy his company. Nice guy too; addresses everyone as SIR or MR and MA'AM or Miss. Like the KING.

He has more than one dozen of these costumes. That's a fortune.

Thanks for comments.
