FIFA WORLD CUP 2018: Gotta Go Home: Boney-M

So the 2018 World Cup's finally ending and the closing ceremony big parade will be performed soon after the Finals between France and Croatia.

There was an earlier article on soccer chants which was mostly about the English teams. Many had high hopes for England but despite the raves and the cheers, England lost to Croatia. 😕

It wasn't a disappointment for me really because I am neither a soccer fan nor a gambler on football stakes. But I received the same videos from some dedicated English fans via WhatsApp. For the whole day, these two videos were coming in...
Boney M - Gotta Go Home (Long Version: 1979) Video from FFFclub. Thank you.

I'd like to share them with all my readers.

Boney M has returned especially to celebrate England's team. Without further ado, my dear readers, enjoy the lovely song.

And don't forget to watch the 2nd video below. The emphasis here is again on Coming Home. It
shows an Irishman's praying hard to stop the World Cup fro... Hee, hee.😊

14 July 2018:
And the prayers have come true. England is not even in 3rd placing, losing to Belgium 2 - 0 @ St Petersburg Stadium. Apparently, according to manager Gareth Southgate, Belgium's too strong for England.
This Video was taken from Irish Central and YouTube by Rory's Stories. Thank you. Your prayer has come true.

A Double A-Side single from Oceans of Fantasy by Boney-M, a German pop group famed in the 70's. It featured Gotta Go Home. This particular vinyl was released in 1979 by Hansa Records.

I completely disagree with people who pray for opponents in a sports event to win or lose. The better team wins. Fullstop! Cheers!

If you know the Irish and British John, it could be a joke.

I was told once, with a straight face, that the Pound Sterling isn't legal tender in Scotland,. :-) when I went to a shop.

You should ask Jimmy about the Brits, Scots and Irish. Ha, ha.

Hey, you're funny!

DEREK McCULLY (TORNADOS, LEAD) said...

Hilarious Andy.

The Irish in me prompted me to join the prayer plea. Ha, ha.

Luck plays an important part in sport especially in football.

There's a joke about three "GREAT" European countries. The Germans, The French and the British.

They used to be paired such:
German Technology
French Lovers
British Humour

Now in the 21st Century, it's:
German Humour
French Technology
British Lovers

Cannot imagine?

Hahaha! That's quite funny...

I'm not a big fan of England team either, but considering they're importing so much FT for their league, not surprising.

Poor John lost his sense of humour momentarily. Haha.

This Irishman is damn lucky that England lost to Croatia.

No, Stephen, Derek is not an Irishman. He's a Singaporean (partly Irish) and lead guitar of THE TORNADOES.

Woah! Lots of confusion here. Fun time.

Thanks to all who wrote in to comment.
And Audie, you might lose your bet.

Andy,

You are right. All the popular footballers are tightly marked and tackled. That's why the underdogs have more room to move and Croatia deserves to win, even though I'm for England. All attack and defend at the same time, running up and down.

The Croatian and England always pass back the aerial ball, hoping for the strikers to score. Ball control by the Croatian midfielders are good and they are hard working, unlike the British who get the ball and shoot high into the penalty box cause they can't dribble the ball into the box. Even the aerial ball, where the Croatians always managed to get it back.

Thank God the England goalie saved two balls; if they Croatians play as they did in the Semis, they will win the Cup against France.

I am predicting only and if that's the case, it's the first time in history for them to win the World Cup.

Cheers.

Wow, Audie,

That's the best critical review I've had from any footballer. Well written and very professionally accessed. I hope your team of choice wins.

After all this, like Boney-M says: GOTTA GO HOME.

Thank you.

Sorry Andy,
If I don't reply this time around.
I'm sotong. My better half watches them all; sometimes 2 to 3 matches a day. He sleeps at 4-5 am.
Me, only watch selective matches.

Thanks so much, SOO KHOON to compile such a long list of songs with the GOING HOME theme.
You took some trouble.

And the others who wrote in with their funny remarks and jokes.

I must thank the people who put up the videos.

Some lost bet as England lost.

Thanks John.
It's taken from another source. Not my own.
But it tells a lot about the UK and its people.
They ARE a humorous lot.
