Elvis Presley - "Mama Liked The Roses"

(From: You Tube/Jackiej61too/January 17th, 2009.)
Oh, Mama liked the roses
She grew them in the yard
But Winter always came around
And made the growing way too hard

Oh, Mama liked the roses
And when she had the time
She'd decorate the living room,
For all us kids to see...

Thanks for putting this song on your blog, Andy. Although Elvis is so popular, this is the first time that I hear this song. And I like it too.

The song is more a tribute to his mother than to Christmas although it appeared in an album titled "Blue Christmas". I guess Christmas is a time when many people think of family and loved ones.

Yes, Victor. Elvis Presley has always been close to his parents and if you remember his recording of "That's All Right (Mama)" is the name of the first single released by Elvis Presley. It was also dedicated to his mother, like this one posted.

We all love our mama.

Heard this song for the first time today. It is a very nice song.

Although Elvis has many famous rock and roll songs, his slow songs like this one are equally good.

Yes they are BC. His versatility is well-known, from rock to ballads, from hot music to cool melodies. That's why he's The King.
