Thanks for putting this song on your blog, Andy. Although Elvis is so popular, this is the first time that I hear this song. And I like it too.
The song is more a tribute to his mother than to Christmas although it appeared in an album titled "Blue Christmas". I guess Christmas is a time when many people think of family and loved ones.
Yes, Victor. Elvis Presley has always been close to his parents and if you remember his recording of "That's All Right (Mama)" is the name of the first single released by Elvis Presley. It was also dedicated to his mother, like this one posted.

Heard this song for the first time today. It is a very nice song.
Although Elvis has many famous rock and roll songs, his slow songs like this one are equally good.
