Silver Strings - Beatles Unlimited, Austria - Andy, Mike n Herb, Veron, Rahimah

BEATLES UNLIMITED, AUSTRIA WITH SILVER STRINGS.

Image from left, standing:
Jalani (keyboard), Herb (vocals), Audie (leader/bass), Mike (vocals), Danny Boy (drums), Bobo (lead/rhythm), Andy Young (vocals),

On the floor, from left
Veronica (vocals, with Beatles on left). Absent: Aloysius (lead/rhythm).
The Silver Strings have been together again since 2008 when we had a show at VivoCity near Sentosa. Audie Ng, band leader, gathered everyone again for another gig in 2009. I was asked to join them and agreed but this time it was held in the big hall at the Orchid Country Club at Yishun.

It was a performance by music-makers from different ethnic backgrounds. Ronnie and The New Burns, Jerry Fernandez, Ms Rahimah Rahim, Karen Lim and their entourage and Ms. Siao Hui from China. And including the Beatles from Europe? There were definitely more than a dozen countries that night, just backstage alone.
Andy [vocals], Audie [bass]

Watching the European Beatles was amazing. They were well prepared for the show, harmonizing and singing close to the original sound of the Fab Four. They gave their very best, as most Western musicians do, and wowed the crowd with most of the Beatles hits. 'She Loves You' was popular as the audience went, 'Yeah, yeah, yeah,' even my 4 year old grandson, who went on stage later with him in my arms. It was an experience singing with an international group.

The show was a two night affair and went on successfully.
From left - Aloysius [lead]. Bobo [rhythm], Danny Boy [drums]
Mike n Herb, Jalani [keyboard], Audie [bass].

There was a reasonably good crowd
that evening as it was near full-house.

The Beatles from Europe stole the night with their tremendously
epic versions of many Beatles hit. Mostly the crowd sang with them.
Entertainment wise, they were superb.
Rahimah Rahim sings both in English and Malay.
Singapore's sweetheart since she was very young,
Rahimah is the daughter of the late Rahim Hamid
[SGs Nat King Cole]. Those were the days, indeed.

Ronnie See and George Chew each on rhythm and
lead guitar,
singing a crowd favourite from Cliff Richard's repertoire.

Thank you. The family went that night too, including my grandson, who managed to escape from his father and greeted me on stage.

The crowd was fantastic and kind, clapping and cheering all the way. Warm and supportive.

Freda thanks, it was a joint effort, with the focus on the EUROPEAN BEATLES.
Lots of fun though.
[You write with lots of feel and vibrations too.]
Time you started a blog with FB and write your MM - Musical Memoirs.

Andy Young
Also like to mention good friend JALANI.
I remember meeting him for the first time, cheerful, always helpful and sincere.
About 11 years now and still in touch.
THANKS JALANI for the keyboard capers and accompaniment [top left, dark glasses, next to Herb].

THANKS TO OTHERS WHO 'LIKE' THIS POST.

The late BOBO who stands next to me [right] is another SS member I have great respect for.
He was an entertainer on stage, deft with his fingers as a guitar player and again sincere and helpful.

Next to him is DANNY BOY, the original drummer of the SILVER STRINGS. Everyone knows DANNY, an unassuming and quiet percussionist who can take a solo drumming anytime on stage without cue. When he left SS, Danny was with THE THUNDERBIRDS for 20 years at the CARRIAGE BAR in YORK HOTEL, SINGAPORE.

BOBO and DANNY BOY are unsung heroes in Singapore's music fraternity.
CHEERS.

I did attend this concert but didn't get to talk to you.
Also I did not do any video at that time.
Saw someone posted one or two videos.
