The Silver Strings Entertain At Jamiyah Home

NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATION AT JAMIYAH HOME FOR AGED:

Andy (image: 1) fronted the Silver Strings to entertain the folks at the Jamiyah Home For The Aged - Darul Takrim (images 2, 3, 4) at No 1 Tampines Avenue 3, Singapore, on 7th August, 2010. In the evening, the group appeared at the Esplanade for a second show, entertaining National Day revellers and tourists who flock the Marina Bay area to have a good time.

Also performing that afternoon were Henry Suriya, Max Surin and Ramon Rahmat with Jerry Fernandez as compere. The ladies and men at the home enjoyed themselves by singing and dancing with wild enjoyment. Most let their hair down - if they had any left - while the rest enjoyed the music with quiet ease.

While Henry sang his classic, Love Is A Golden Ring, Maxie sang, Within You Remain (Wo Ai Nee), the big Tokyo Square hit and Ramon (from The Blackjacks) gave his rendition of Sway with much verve and vitality. The evening ended with Burung Kakak Tuah (Anneke Gronloh) and My Way (Paul Anka), sung by all the musicians and Organising Committee. On the whole, it was a riotous affair.

More about Max Surin and Ramon Rahmat soon.

Andy, it is very heartwarming to know that you and the other singers/musicians volunteered such a meaningful deed for the old folks on National Day. It must have lifted their spirits. Yeah, Stand Up for Singapore!

Thank you Victor for your kind words. The reward was to see their faces light up as they take to the floor to shake, rattle and roll.

The more passive ones enjoyed the carnival atmosphere.

A good deed indeed for the folks on National Day.

There are other homes in Singapore. Why did The Silver Strings choose Jamiyah Home? Any particular reasons? Or was it a random selection?

Thank you for visiting. We came to perform according to the wishes of the organisers who have approached the band leader.
