Hey Andy, do you know Vernon Cheong? Coincidentally, he also has a recent post about the Stylers. Listen to the songs Belachan (in English) and I.O.I.O (in Hokkien) by the group on his blog. They have lots of local flavour and the 2nd song is especially appropriate for the habitual gamblers in the IRs. I have not heard the songs before and I find them quite funny.

We "know" each other from our blogs. Vernon has a great mix of personalities from our local music scene.

Yes, I blogged The Stylers some time back and decided to reply to Randy Lee's comment when he wrote about their first line-up. They played at a house party where I was the MC, a training ground for lots of future ones.

It was an easy choice to ask them to play because John Teo was a Geylang boy in the 60s. He has gone far in his career and done pretty well for himself.

Hi Andy
I'm not sure of the location in your image 1, but I do remember Stylers had many house/dance parties in Geylang and Katong during their earlier years. Yes John Teo was a Geylang boy, staying at Lor 39 and myself used to frequent my grandma's house at Lor 41, a two storey pre-war house, which still stands today.
Anyway should you need any info about the Stylers, I will gladly oblige.

Cheers
Randy

Thanks again for writing Randy. If you could leave me an email address I could write to you. I think there are lots of things we could discuss about the band and your personal viewpoint about its success.

The email address will be deleted immediately.
Cheers

Hi Andy,
I'm now stationed in Jakarta, Indonesia.

For your info I'm also in contact with Vernon Cheong, Joe Wu/Seattle USA and Alvin Tan (EHT123). It's alright feel free to write me.

Just to let you know that I was in S'pore during the CNY and managed to get in touch with Ronnie See. Had a good jam session with him and your good pal Audie Ng.

Regards,
Randy

Thank you Randy for your prompt reply. I shall write to you soon.

OK now I remember that day with Ronnie - 'Mean Woman Blues' and 'Red River Rock.'
Cheers

Someone wrote in for an explanation on the last comment. I sang with The Burns during the CNY gathering while Randy Lee was on rhythm. The songs were done in fun and were unrehearsed.
