Crosby's holiday collection Merry Christmas was first released as an LP in 1949, and has never been out-of-print since. Nearly 200 other singers have covered this particular Christmas song written by Irving Berlin. Name any pop singer and he or she would have covered it.
In Singapore, blogger heard it for the first time in a church somewhere in North Bridge Road. But that was a long, long time ago... But Singapore's Christmas will always be wet but green!
"I really love this Album by Bing Crosby. I grew up in Singapore in the 1950's and 1960's, and this is the ONE Christmas Album that went around the world with us (Literally) through the years!!!I still have the Album, By The Way!!!" (Rosalie, Newark, DE)

For milllions it gonna be a sad Xmas.
In this vast world of ours, Christmas or Hari Raya will always be sad for the poor.
So it's the songs that will drive the good cheer and encourage the able to provide for the disable, the rich for the poor.
I guess it's a time for giving?
Anyway the White Christmas by Crosby is greatest a carol song yet...poor and rich....Even we'v been used to sang the great song during the 1950 Korean War it's hard times with the U.S. GI....in this case it's a sort of GI Blues....
Yes, it is a sort of GI Blues. It could also be a message for earth today.
I'm dreaming of a white christmas/Just like the one we used to know...
Any local singers did this number?
Bing Crosby was an idol and loved by the armed forces too.
Yes, and if I remember the performers packed up their bags and travelled to far flung corners of the world to put on shows raising the spirits of the troops overseas.
I love this song.
When I searched for Belafonte's information on Internet last week, I found that Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" was the first Singles that surpassed 1 million copies in sales.
This is one LP that I'll like to own.
Yes BC. It will be a worthwhile journey into the past to find out the composers and dates of these Christmas songs featured on this album by Bing Crosby.
All the best in your quest. If you find an extra one get it for me. I shall too.
Cheers.
