Some 38 songs of Neil Diamond are on the top 40 hits. Name them and they are on the list. Cherry, Cherry, Girl You'll Be A Woman Soon, Kentucky Woman, Red, Red Wine, Shilo, the Jonathan Livingstone Seagull album and the classics, Sweet Caroline and Song Sung Blue.
Personal choice is the Hot August Night album, where he performed at the Greek Theatre and produced by Tom Catalano (MCA 2-8000 produced in 1971 in Universal City, California USA.)
Watched him live in concert when he performed in Winnipeg, Canada in 1985. The best seats cost $30.00 and he sang for 2 hours.
"The human voice is the most important instrument at our disposal, yet it is one of the most difficult to understand or define... it is more than just a sound... it is the soul itself. Neil Diamond - 1974." Neil Diamond is still performing today. And he twitters.

Neil Diamond
Great singer, super performer, his concert is a must see. I was in one of them many years ago at the LA Greek Theater. His concert tickets are always difficult to get. It was true than. It is still true today.
Neil Diamond is 76 years old now and is doing his 50th Anniversary Tour. A true inspiration for many.
Here's what the Portland Mercury Reporter had to say on his concert at Portland, Oregon last night:
"The show moved rapidly with songs kept to 3-4 minutes ( except for Sweet Caroline which had an extended sing-a-long ). He had many hits beginning with the Record years of 1966-67, and concluding with tracks from his 1972’s Hot August Night, 1976’s Beautiful Noise and 1979’s September Morning. Diamond remains in startlingly good voice. His legacy, once overlooked, is settling into its deserved place as one of the finest 20th-century American songbook."
Neil Diamond is currently on his 50th Anniversary Tour and plays at concerts across North America.
Three singers I admire, Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley and Neil Diamond. In that order.
Thanks for the comment.
Ha ! We have something in common.
Don't forget " George Jones ", the King of Country !
Thanks, Henry. I like the more popular country singers. But rock and roll, blues and jazz standards for me.
