From late September, October and November the leaves start to change colour and fall in abundance on the earthy ground.  Green, brown, red, yellow, orange, gold; chase one and somehow you can catch the hue you're seeking.

Living in the tropics, I miss these 3 months, having lived in Canada for some years. This is the period when ''autumn leaves start to fall, [J. Kosma/1945]'' rustling and crisp; the wind is usually chilly and often times gusty...

''From the dew-soaked hedge creeps a crawly caterpillar
When the dawn begins to crack, it's all part of my human almanac
Breeze blows leaves of a multi-coloured yellow...
For lack of sun because the Summer's all gone...
Yes, yes, yes, it's my autumn almanac...''
[The Kinks - Autumn Almanac - Ray Davies 1967]

    Thanks Andy
    For a well-annotated posting.
Your lyrics quotes are detailed with proper composers' names.
Some of the songs never hit the number one spots.
It's a pity but nevertheless, they are memorable August/October tunes.

Like Nat King Cole's Autumn Leaves. Still a popular number among some oldies during karaoke. Have a great Oct, Andy.

It may be too personal, but Abba's "Asta Manana" is the song that gives me autumn vibes the most.

  11. That's interesting Hiroshi.
    Yes, the first line says
'Where is the Spring and the Summer
    That was yours and mine...'

    Definitely, Autumn time.
    Lost love.

  12. I love Autumn Rendezvous by Francoise Hardy, famous for her "If we are only friends". I love her "All over the world" too.

    Hello Andy,

Enjoyed the blog, and thank you for your kindness in dedicating it to us and others in Winnipeg... such a surprise, and very sweet of you. Listening to Nat King Cole singing "Autumn Leaves" is so very lovely. :-)

Autumn is also my favourite season. In terms of leaves changing colour and falling, that came very early here this year, due to extreme heat and extreme drought in the summer, which weakened the trees.

But... we have also had record high temperatures the past several weeks, and our garden is actually producing new flowers! In October! It is Thanksgiving weekend here.

Always a pleasure to hear from you. With best wishes to you...

Thanks for taking time for this reminder that we’re already in the month of October, Brother Andy. Love this jazzy and cool classic from Van Morrison. I was 14, when I heard it for the first time.. absolutely great lyrics..

Well it’s a marvellous night for a moon dance.. With the stars up above in your eyes.. A fantabulous night to make romance.. ‘Neath the cover of OCTOBER skies. Wow, indeed timeless. When musicians were talented and wrote beautiful songs that will stand the test of time forever.

    Cheers
    👍❤️🥰…
