Johnny Tillotson Meets His Dreamy Eyes Earth Angel In Singapore.

Mr. HH Chew, Mrs. Chew, the little earth angel and pop star, Johnny Tillotson.

A letter from regular pop concert goer HH Chew:

"Hello Andy,

My family and I met Johnny Tillotson by chance at the Garden Seafood Restaurant in Goodwood Park Hotel in December 1984. We were hosting a dinner there for some relatives. Johnny Tillotson was there coincidentally too for dinner. He was in Singapore then for his concert and these were fairly regular around the 80s and 90s.

He obliged our request to taking the photo with my family when I approached him. The songs he sang at his concerts were mainly his 60s hits. I can’t remember the ticket prices."

Sincerely,
HH.

When I wrote an article earlier on the 1st April 2025 regarding the passing away of Johnny Tillotson, good friend and blog reader Chew HH sent me the above picture and mentioned that he met the pop singer at a dinner in the hotel.

When I asked him for details he provided them as always; a quiet and pleasant friend, he is. As the handshakes were going round the table and cameras were popping flash bulbs [we had no smart phones then], the little girl started crying. So there you have the photograph above, frozen in time since its appearance about 40 plus years ago.

Our famous singer could have sung many hits for the baby: Earth Angel, Send Me The Pillow, Dreamy Eyes, Heartaches By The Number, Princess Princess, Cling To Me... but I thought the one below could be an appropriate one.

Thank you HH and Rest In Peace Johnny Tillotson...

"Princess, Princess, Princess, my love, Princess, Princess, you're a dream, Cutest girl I've ever seen, You were sent from up above, To hold my hand and give me love. Princess, Princess, when you kiss, You're so sweet, I can't resist, You make all my dreams come true, Princess, I'm in love with you..."

The little baby is now a lovely, lovely lady. You should know how old she is now.

A big thank you again to HH.

Love the combined title hits by Tillotson to form a message to the baby girl. Here's another one, "Send me the pillow that you dream on earth angel. You're such a beautiful princess with dreamy eyes. Cling to me because without you I get heartaches by the number. If you refuse, I'll get tears on my pillow."

Andy Young Pure class, no filthy lyrics, still feeling fresh listening in 2025. Another song comes to mind, Brother Andy. I last watched Johnny Tillotson in Singapore at Suntec Exhibition and Convention Centre in 2003. This remains one of the best-known song of Johnny’s Catalog.

Greetings to all.. I’m currently in Seoul, Korea - holiday with family now. Enjoying our time with grandson

Hi Fred, thanks for the response. True! No 'filthy lyrics'. Just 'pure class'. Total agreement. He was one of those exceptionally talented and straight singers. No gimmicks; just his voice and the music accompaniment.
