I remember him as a renowned good bass player with RTS. Very encouraging and supportive especially when you are involved in music when he is around.
ReplyDeleteA nice, humble man, a great loss and condolences to his family members.
Winston is now happy at last with his wife Teresa in Heaven! RIP.
ReplyDeleteI don't really know him. Only vaguely recall seeing him on TV.
ReplyDeleteRIP Filmer. Sound bassist with RTS.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear.
ReplyDeleteHi Andy. WINSTON KOH, the Cliff Richard of SG, has very fond memories of both Winston Pilmer and his dear wife, Teresa. We were having lunch at the Spore Cricket Club today (January 12th 2018) and Winston Koh was recalling the many friends he had made during his active music years with THE FLYING PHANTOMS, performing both in SG and regionally, especially in Hong Kong. Somehow W.P. came to his mind and he could clearly recall Winston Pilmer helping him to write several music scores. Ironically ONLY one score sheet carried both the names of Winston and Teresa. It was THE TIMES OF YOUR LIFE.
ReplyDeleteShortly after we left SCC, I got your msg from that Winston Pilmer passed away earlier on in the day. I informed Winston Koh immediately and added that pperhaps he had, in spirit, came to say goodbye to him?? Who knows.
May perpetual light shine upon Winston Pilmer.
All the best brother Andy!
I do not know Filmer as an individual in my younger days. However, the fact that he was a part of our country's RTS Band during the heyday, he, therefore, deserves our respect for his talent. Our condolences to his family.

ReplyDeleteIt fills me with sadness and condolence to his family on Winston's passing. He was a good friend, nice person and a humble musician of the 60's.
During that time, we were at the Adelphi Roof Garden with Teresa Khoo at the piano.
Regards.
I remember him. Longtime bass player for RTS. (Radio Television Singapore.)
ReplyDeleteThank you all for condolences and comments.
ReplyDeleteFL I agree with your point regarding recognising our musicians and have included it in the posting.
RIP Winston. Condolences to his family.
ReplyDeleteHad sung with him and Teresa Khoo at Raffles Hotel for two New Year's Eve.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless His Soul.
A passing of another Pioneer, another generation. Wherever he is, may he be with those he loved and those who loved him; and doing what he loved - making music for his and others' happiness. I am sure Mr Filmer will be dearly missed by his family, friends and fans.
ReplyDeleteMay he be at Peace.
When I was playing trombone in the NZ Army Band and playing the double-bass (whenever I could) our band frequently went down to Singapore from Terendak, and on every occasion, I would visit, listen to, and talk with Winstone. Aside from being one of the nicest and most genuine people on the planet, he was also one of the biggest influences on my development as a musician - and I will ALWAYS be grateful!
ReplyDeleteHi bazza,
