Released on 28/06/1957 with Gamblin' Man on the flip, Putting On The Style was 2 weeks at #1 and 19 weeks on the hit parade chart. And blogger loves this song so much he still remembers the words, especially the chorus.

Donegan was as big as the Beatles and Cliff Richard but they came on the scene later. He was the King of Skiffle and with a washboard, a tea chest bass (box, stick, string) and a cheap Spanish guitar, Donegan and his mates entertained audiences with folk and blues songs following a skiffle-group style of the 1930s.
