Philips recording artistes of the 60s, The Silver Strings (above image) are not the boys from Singapore. Other local bands are in the same situation.
So what's in a name then? Do you know of other bands across the globe that have similar names as our groups?

By the way there are many music groups called The Silver Strings.
Here's one:
ReplyDeleteSingapore's Mysterians share their name with the USA's ? and the Mysterians, most famous for their song 96 Tears

Hey Steve,
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you're wired. I must check with Ronnie See (Burns) regarding the Mysterians because the former drummer is jamming with him.
Is '96 Tears' a Singapore Mysterians' song or is it by the USA group?
ReplyDeleteHi Andy,
ReplyDeleteYes, I can finally post on your site! 96 Tears was by ? (Question Mark) & The Mysterians from Michigan. A big hit in the mid-60s and covered by many others since. You can read about the band here:

There is lots about them on the web, including at garagehangover
I wonder if the Singapore Mysterians knew of the Michigan band?
Steve
Thanks Steve. Will check out Garagehangover. Hope you will read Quests U.S. where vocalist/leader Bob 'challenges' Quests Singapore to compete as to which is the better Quests. Interesting idea.
ReplyDeleteActually Bob wrote to say he'll be visiting Singapore soon since his son is here.
Cheers,
Andy
