“Malcolm Hyder, the driving force behind our band, FLYING FEATHERS, has passed away. During our formative years, we would gather at his Joo Chiat Road home to rehearse and hone our skills. Malcolm's dynamic personality and inventive ideas not only shaped our music but also inspired our band's name.
The members in the band were Roger Prior, Harvey Klass, Patrick Nathan and Myself. All of us were in our 20’s. Played at the RAF Officers Club in Changi.
As I reflect on these memories, I'm reminded of his remarkable life, which included his tenure as a teacher at Siglap. He will be deeply missed.
Rest In Peace, Malcolm. Condolences to his Family.”
Do write in if you remember Malcolm.

Malcolm delivered jokes with a straight face and I have never failed to laugh. He was mostly cheerful, slim and immaculately dressed with long sleeves and Brylcreem hair. Looks more like a school teacher ( he is) than a pop singer. We’ll meet again my friend…
ReplyDeleteKnown him and played some of his shows way back in the 60’s

ReplyDeleteThanks very much for sharing 🙏. Always with a tinge of sadness to hear of anyone's passing. Tomorrow I will be attending the funeral of an old friend. Exactly one year ago my oldest friend's wife passed away as well. We count our blessings for each day 🙏. God bless us all.

ReplyDeleteHi, Malcolm Hyder from The Bambinos has passed away today 11 Jan 2026. May God bless his soul and may he be reunited with his family and friends in Heaven forever singing. Rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteMalcolm was choir master at Holy family during those years. We'd go carolling for about 3-4 Christmases. He would arrange hymns into jazzy versions, until I think he was banned eventually. He'd bring the whole choir to my home for rehearsals. He’s a very thorough musician.

I remember Mr Malcolm Hyder being a Guest at one of our many gigs, but I can't recall if he did perform with us - the Band at that Function or Event.
