It's not a good month for me either, having to go through the same issues, so every time I glance at the newspapers and read about the death of a celebrity, an icon, a legend; whatever you want to label him or her, I shake my head!
A tribute to the six legends above: five musicians and singers and a great wrestler.
July's been a challenging month anyway! A blistering day, nearly every day with a sink hole to boot at Tanjong Katong, road-work jams and an apartment on fire at Toa Payoh with two deaths. And of course, the ever raging wars in the background that's been going on forever. This is the first time in decades that I feel like a news reporter and not a blogger.
This short take is very personal. That's how I feel this month, a very challenging month and definitely not a happy month for some of us. Sorry!

Yes Andy I know how you feel. We are all now in the twilight of our life and these famous people were a part of the tapestry of our lives. They coloured our dreams and memories with vibrant shades of painted nostalgia. Now we look back and ask where did those years go. Thanks for giving us happy memories and now RIP in the hands of our loving God.

ReplyDeleteConnie Francis was our teenage icon. She will be remembered in all the karaoke halls by her many fans when they take the mike and sing “Stupid Cupid”in CF fashion. And so will all the other celebrities . Many an artiste or writer is unfortunately best remembered after their passing .
Think positive Andy. August is an auspicious month… SG’s big birthday… auspicious for everyone who have struggled with the nation.We count our blessings yah and pray 🙏
Thankfully the lady involved in the accident was safe. Katong used to be my hangout too …just so near my former school in the 60s.
There is affirmation of a ceasefire in the negotiation too. Cheer up😁

Hi Andy, I fully share your sentiments. Thus far, the month of July has been rather grim indeed. Let's pray for happier and better days ahead. In my humble opinion, you'd certainly make a good journalist. Reading the interesting, informative and authentic write-ups you've penned over the years supports my opinion. On a side note, perhaps MSM could consider adding an article from your blog each weekend into their leisure column? This might help revive the dismal readership of its publication?
