(2) 'Mean Woman Blues' - Elvis Presley - Lyrics

Mean Woman Blues (Elvis' Version)
I got a woman mean as she can be
I got a woman mean as she can be
Sometimes I think she's almost mean as me
A black cat up and died of fright
Cause he crossed her path last night
Kissed so hard she proved my lips
Hurts so good my heart just flips...

Strange title for a song!

It's BLUES music and the lyrics usually tell a sad tale. But this particular version is faster with a hand-clapping rhythm.

Another famous one is "Summertime" which begins with, "Summertime and the livin' is easy/Bees are hummin' and the cotten is ripe/Your daddy's rich and your mamma's good lookin'/So hush pretty baby, don't you cry..."

Most songs have the same theme.

Just a footnote to the above. Summertime is also known as a 'jazz standard' which I have covered in another posting. But it's got this bluesy beat.

Wikipedia has short articles on the two songs.
